How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe for Work
A work capsule is less about owning less and more about owning pieces that talk to each other. Here is how to build one that carries every kind of office day.

Start with a clean slate. Take every item out and group it: spring and summer, fall and winter, year-round basics like jeans and neutral knits, and a donate or discard pile. Seeing it all at once shows you what you actually wear and what has been quietly taking up space since last year.
As you sort, ask the honest questions. Did I wear this last season, does it still fit and flatter me, is it in good condition, and does it suit my style now. If the answer is no, let it go. Donating, selling, or recycling the dead weight is what makes the rest of the system work.
Pack away what you will not touch for months in breathable bins or fabric bags, never plastic that traps damp. Vacuum-sealed bags are perfect for bulky coats and knits. Clean everything before it goes away so you are not inviting pests, and label each container clearly so next season's swap is a two-minute job.
Your most-worn pieces should live at eye level, with less-used items on high shelves or in drawers. Hang go-to outfits together by type, then by color from light to dark, and use matching hangers so nothing slips. The goal is to see your real wardrobe at a glance on a busy morning.
Seasonal organizing is not a one-time project. At the start of each new season, swap the bins, repair anything tired, and notice what you still did not wear. A quick refresh keeps the closet functional and quietly stops you from buying duplicates you cannot see past the clutter.
